Job summary

CHI Health Schuyler in Nebraska is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist to perform complex laboratory tests and deliver timely, accurate results that guide patient care.

You will work across hematology, chemistry, microbiology and other disciplines, maintain instruments, ensure quality control, and support clinical decision-making with precise data and adherence to regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in a biological or chemical science as defined by CLIA., upon hire
• Preferred International Medical Laboratory Scientist, and related certifications may be preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs and reports waived, moderately complex, and highly complex test procedures on patient specimens adhering to SOPs to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
• Provides excellent patient care through clinical correlation of results, identification of patterns of bias, rapid notification of caregivers of critical values, and testing within turn-around-time limits.
• Ensures major automated equipment is operational by maintenance, calibration and troubleshooting; includes contacting instrument vendors for assistance or repair.
• Performs required calibration and quality control procedures and maintains records to ensure tests are within parameters.
• Performs proficiency testing and reviews results with laboratory clinical leaders.
• Assists in evaluation and generation of compliant documentation for validation of new procedures and equipment.
