Job summary

CHI Health Schuyler seeks a Medical Lab Scientist to perform diverse diagnostic tests across hematology, chemistry, microbiology, and more. You will analyze specimens, operate instruments, interpret results, and enforce quality control to support timely clinical decisions.

The role requires a strong scientific foundation, high technical proficiency, and meticulous attention to regulatory standards. A sign-on bonus and educational assistance are available for eligible hires.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in a biological or chemical science as defined by CLIA, upon hire.
Proficiency with clinical laboratory testing and quality control processes may be required.
Multiple certifications (ASCP/AAB/AMT) or equivalent are preferred.

Responsibilities

Performs and reports waived, moderately complex, and highly complex test procedures on patient specimens adhering to SOPs to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
Provides patient care through clinical correlation of results and rapid notification of caregivers of critical values.
Ensures major automated equipment is operational by maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting; contact vendors for repair when needed.
Performs calibration and quality control procedures and maintains records for parameters.
Performs proficiency testing and reviews results with laboratory leaders.
Assists in evaluating and documenting new procedures and equipment validation for up-to-date lab technology.
