Job summary

CHI Health Schuyler is seeking a Medical Lab Scientist to serve as a critical diagnostic expert, performing complex tests across hematology, chemistry, microbiology, and more to ensure accurate, timely results.

You will operate and maintain instruments, perform quality control, and collaborate with caregivers to communicate critical values, with emphasis on accuracy and regulatory adherence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's of Science in a biological or chemical science per CLIA.

Responsibilities

• Performs and reports waived, moderately complex, and highly complex test procedures on patient specimens adhering to SOPs to ensure accurate and timely reporting
• Provides excellent patient care through clinical correlation of results, rapid notification of critical values, and timely testing within turn-around-time limits
• Ensures major automated equipment is operational by maintenance, calibration and troubleshooting; including contacting vendor for assistance or repair
• Performs required calibration and quality control procedures and maintains records
• Performs proficiency testing and reviews results with laboratory leaders
• Assists in evaluation and generation of compliant documentation for validation of new procedures and equipment
