Job Opportunity: Medical Laboratory Scientist at Eagle Health

Cape Fox subsidiary Eagle Health is accepting resumes for a Medical Laboratory Scientist to support members at Fort Detrick, Maryland. This position is contingent upon contract award. Incumbents are encouraged to apply!

The salary range for this exempt position is $85,000 - $95,000. We also offer benefits such as holidays, paid time off, health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, tuition reimbursement, and a 401K match. The posting remains open until filled or withdrawn.

Job Responsibilities:

• Perform clinical pathology laboratory testing, including maintenance, operation, and quality assurance of laboratory equipment and tests, following all regulations.
• Serve as the primary contact for animal clinical pathology missions, supporting research programs and testing of NHP colony specimens.
• Conduct microbiological, biological, and biochemical examinations on clinical and environmental specimens.
• Perform hematological, chemistry, and coagulation tests, including blood smears and urinalysis, and generate sediment preparations.
• Oversee and review animal clinical pathology test results and procedures.
• Evaluate, interpret, and record laboratory test results according to GLP SOPs and QALs guidelines.
• Maintain quality control, equipment validation, and records in compliance with GLP and QALs standards.
• Identify anomalies in test results, determine causes, and implement corrections.
• Assist in research, testing method evaluation, and personnel training.
• Prepare for GLP audits and inspections.
• Maintain a clean and organized laboratory environment and manage inventory of supplies.
• Create and maintain SOPs, logs, and reports; assist in preparing technical documents and manuscripts.
• Participate in meetings, deliver presentations, and generate reports and summaries.
• Provide technical support to research staff and veterinarians.
• Report safety issues and SOP noncompliance promptly.
• Investigate infection events in laboratory animals, following study protocols in BSL-2, BSL-3, or BSL-4 environments.
• Cross-train to support other laboratory functions as needed.
• Perform routine cleaning and maintenance in containment areas, ensuring safety and compliance.
• Maintain BPRP enrollment according to regulations.
