About the Job

• Title: Medical Laboratory Scientist
• Contract Duration: 2 Months
• Pay Range: $30 - 45/hr
• Location: Cleveland, OH
• Work Type: Onsite, 2nd shift - 4 pm - 12:30 am/EST

Job Responsibilities

• Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling, testing, reporting, and record maintenance.
• Maintain records demonstrating proficiency testing in the same manner as patient specimens.
• Analyze specimens using approved procedures, review, and release results.
• Adhere to CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines.
• Maintain quality control policies, document activities, calibrations, and maintenance.
• Identify and correct issues affecting test performance or report problems to supervisors.
• Document corrective actions and follow procedures for reporting critical results.
• Maintain testing records, departmental appearance, and reagent/test kit details.
• Participate in training, meetings, and safety sessions.
• Perform other duties as directed by the supervisor.

Qualifications

• Solid understanding of laboratory testing, good computer skills, and adaptability to multiple systems.
• Knowledge of QC and QA, and all laboratory areas.
• BS in Medical Technology preferred; or BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology, or Associates degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Technology, or qualified under 42 CFR 493.1433.
• Foreign candidates must provide credential evaluation; US candidates must submit transcripts.
• Eligible for national certification as MT / MLT (ASCP or AMT).
• Minimum 1 year of clinical experience in highly complex testing; licensure as required.

Additional Requirements

• Ability to prioritize tasks, interact with departments, and provide good customer service.
• Maintain patient confidentiality.
• Shift differential: 10%; Saturday shift additional 10%.
