Job summary

Vaughan Regional Medical Center in Selma, AL, part of ScionHealth, seeks a Medical Lab Technologist to perform routine and complex laboratory procedures across chemistry, hematology, microbiology, and blood banking.

You will ensure quality control, maintain equipment, and follow CLIA/CAP/OSHA guidelines while collaborating with physicians and staff to deliver accurate diagnostic information for patient care.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field required.
• Completion of a NAACLS-accredited Medical Laboratory Science program preferred.
• Certification as MT/MLS by ASCP/AAB/AMT preferred
• Valid state license as required by the state.
• BLS certification preferred

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory tests in chemistry, hematology, microbiology, blood banking, and urinalysis.
• Analyze, validate, and interpret test results to ensure diagnostic accuracy.
• Perform equipment calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting according to established protocols.
• Review and verify patient specimens to confirm accuracy before testing.
• Maintain laboratory records, ensuring accurate data entry into the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
• Assist in quality assurance programs, including proficiency testing and equipment validation.
• Collaborate with physicians and healthcare staff to provide accurate test results and address diagnostic concerns.
• Perform venipuncture, specimen collection, and sample processing as needed.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to infection control and safety protocols.
• Participate in continuing education and stay updated on advancements in laboratory technology.
