Mount Carmel is seeking a Medical Technologist to perform phlebotomy and laboratory testing in our central Ohio facility. The role requires understanding clinical significance of results, operating instrumentation, and reporting results accurately and promptly.

The position emphasizes quality control, safety procedures, and ongoing maintenance of equipment, with an emphasis on rapid, accurate reporting and collaboration with supervisors and colleagues.

Qualifications

• Education: Baccalaureate Degree in Medical Technology or related field.
• Licensure: Certification from ASCP or equivalent; eligible for certification.
• If applicable, must maintain active certification.
• Experience: Preferred, but not required.
• Strong communication skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Performs all clinical testing in assigned department.
• Records and reports test results accurately and promptly.
• Performs and interprets quality control testing following established guidelines.
• Maintains a high level of quality assurance.
• Follows safety procedures including Universal Precautions and proper use of safety equipment.
• Recognizes problems by following prescribed strategies and makes necessary corrections.
• Consults with supervisor/manager when criteria for decisions are not present; acts to determine final decision in absence of supervisor/manager.
• Coordinates and evaluates new reagents, procedures and equipment as requested.
• Performs routine scheduled and specialized maintenance of laboratory equipment.
