Job summary

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology or relevant medical/scientific discipline.
• Certification: Certification as Medical Laboratory Scientist (ASCP BOC) or equivalent preferred; if not certified, certification must be obtained within the first year of employment.
• Education: Associates degree in Medical Laboratory Technology with certification as Medical Laboratory Technician (ASCP BOC) or equivalent; if not certified, certification must be obtained within the first year of employment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare specimens for testing and perform routine laboratory tests.
• Conduct quality control and maintenance procedures.
• Recognize computer data problems and troubleshoot instruments.
• Communicate technical information to medical and lay persons.
• Assist with training laboratory personnel in routine procedures and participate in continuing education.
