Job summary

Medical University of South Carolina (MUHA) is seeking PRN Medical Laboratory personnel to support high-quality clinical testing. The role involves specimen preparation, routine testing, quality control, instrument troubleshooting, and training colleagues.

Certifications in Medical Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory Technology are preferred, with contingent certification requirements within the first year.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology or relevant medical/scientific discipline.
• Certification: Certification as Medical Laboratory Scientist (ASCP BOC) or equivalent preferred; if not certified, certification must be obtained within the first year of employment.
• Education: Associates degree in Medical Laboratory Technology with certification as Medical Laboratory Technician (ASCP BOC) or equivalent; if not certified, certification must be obtained within the first year of employment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare specimens for testing and perform routine laboratory tests.
• Conduct quality control and maintenance procedures.
• Recognize computer data problems and troubleshoot instruments.
• Communicate technical information to medical and lay persons.
• Assist with training laboratory personnel in routine procedures and participate in continuing education.
