Job summary

Medical University Hospital Authority (MUHA) in Charleston, SC is seeking a Laboratory Technician (PRN) to support high-quality testing in our clinical laboratory. Education includes a Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology or a related field, with certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (ASCP BOC) preferred or to be obtained within the first year.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology or relevant medical/scientific discipline.
• Certification as Medical Laboratory Scientist (ASCP BOC) or equivalent, or must obtain within the first year.

Responsibilities

• Prepares specimens for testing and performs routine laboratory tests.
• Performs quality control and maintenance procedures.
• Troubleshoots laboratory instruments and communicates technical information to medical and lay persons.
• Assists with training laboratory personnel in routine procedures and participates in continuing education.
• Recognizes normal and abnormal values.
