Job summary

Mercy Health seeks a Medical Lab Technician to perform routine and complex lab tests on blood, tissue, and body fluids. The role confirms results and provides essential data to physicians for diagnosis and treatment. You will monitor equipment, support training, and participate in continuing education.

Candidates should have an accredited MLT program completion (Associates) or equivalent, and MLT certification or eligible (ASCP preferred). Job duties include LIS/HIS use and inventory support.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or better in Medical Lab Technology or equivalent program.
• 60 semester hours including chemistry and biology with completion of an approved MLT program.
• Military medical lab training within 10 years also acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine, moderate, and highly complex laboratory diagnostic tests.
• Confirms test results and provides data to physicians.
• Follows quality control programs ensuring accuracy of results.
• Monitors, maintains, and troubleshoots laboratory instruments and equipment.
• Assist training of new employees and students on lab procedures.
• Utilizes Lab and Hospital Information Systems.
• Participates in continuing education in respective areas of expertise.
• Assists with inventory control.

Completed at least 60 semester hours (including six hours of chemistry and six of biology) of academic credit from a college or university accredited by a recognized regional or national accreditation agency and have successfully completed a medical lab technician program by a nationally accredited agency

Completed a 50-week U.S. military medical laboratory training course within the past ten years
