Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology or relevant medical/scientific discipline.
• Certification as Medical Laboratory Scientist (ASCP BOC) or equivalent preferred; if not certified, certification must be obtained within the first year of employment.
• Associates degree in Medical Laboratory Technology also accepted.

Responsibilities

• Prepares specimens for testing and performs routine laboratory tests.
• Performs quality control and maintenance procedures.
• Recognizes and troubleshoots computer data problems and instrument issues.
• Communicates technical information to medical staff and laypersons.
• Assists with training laboratory personnel in routine procedures.
• Participates in continuing education and demonstrates ongoing learning.
• Recognizes normal and abnormal values and communicates results clearly.
