Job summary

Medical University of South Carolina is seeking Medical Technologists (MT I/II) to support high-quality laboratory testing. The role includes specimen preparation, routine and specialized tests, quality control, troubleshooting, and training staff.

Requirements include a BS in Medical Technology or related field and ASCP BOC certification or equivalent. Primary source verification will be conducted by MUHA HR. This is an hourly, PRN position with 12 scheduled hours weekly.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology or related discipline required.
• Certification as Medical Technologist by ASCP BOC or equivalent required; MLS/MLS/CLS considered.
• Primary source verification of successful completion by MUHA HR.

Responsibilities

• Performs sample assessment, receiving, accessioning, processing and testing to support patient results.
• Performs routine laboratory testing using automated and non-automated methods.
• Performs quality control testing and instrument maintenance; troubleshoot issues.
• Notifies and documents critical results per policy.
• Ensures reagents are stocked and par levels are maintained.
• Participates in teaching and orientation of students, residents and new staff.
