Job summary

Medical University Hospital Authority (MUHA) seeks a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Technician PRN to support high-quality testing at Summerville Medical Center. You will prepare specimens, run routine tests, perform QC, and maintain instruments while communicating results to clinical and non-clinical staff.

The role requires either BS in Medical Technology or related field with ASCP BOC certification (or eligible to obtain within year); an MLT/ASSOC degree with certification is also acceptable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology or relevant medical/scientific discipline.
• Certification as Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) by ASCP BOC or equivalent, or certification must be obtained within first year if not currently certified.
• Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology; certification as Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) by ASCP BOC or equivalent, to be obtained within first year.

Responsibilities

• Supports high quality laboratory testing in a clinical laboratory.
• Prepares specimens for testing and performs routine laboratory tests.
• Performs quality control and maintenance procedures; troubleshoots laboratory instruments.
• Communicates technical information to medical and lay persons; assists with training laboratory personnel in routine procedures.
• Participates in continuing education and recognizes normal and abnormal values.
