Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Lab Assistant/Phlebotomist, you will be responsible for:

• Specimen collection and testing, understanding specimen rejection criteria.
• Collecting blood specimens via venipuncture and skin puncture on pediatric, neonatal, adult, and geriatric patients.
• Completing appropriate specimen collection documentation.
• Following established procedures for patient identification and specimen collection based on test orders.
• Educating patients and/or families about specimen collection procedures prior to collection.
• Using our computer information system related to job functions.
• Performing clerical duties such as faxing, phone calls, pneumatic tube system management, and report processing.
• Reviewing Outstanding Specimen Reports (OSR) and pending collection issues, taking appropriate actions.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED.
• Vocational/technical diploma.
• Phlebotomy certification is beneficial.
• Less than 1 year of experience in a clinical laboratory setting.
• Time management and customer service skills.
