Job summary

CentraCare Rice Memorial Hospital is hiring for a temporary Medical Lab Technician/Medical Lab Scientist position through December 2026. The role is full-time, onsite in Minnesota, with shifts starting 6am–6:30am and ending 2:30pm–3pm, no weekends or holidays.

Responsibilities include testing body fluids and tissues, interpreting results, and working across chemistry, hematology, and microbiology or transfusion services.

Qualifications

• MLT: High School diploma or equivalent; Associate degree from CLT/MLT program. New graduate’s degree must be validated within 2 months post-graduation.
• ASCP-BOC certified within 6 months with first exam completed within 3 months of hire; certification verified within six weeks of exam.
• MLS: High School diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree with necessary science/math credits as required and verified by ASCP-BOC. New graduate’s degree must be validated within 2 months post-graduation.

Laboratory professionals are key members of today’s health care team, and quality medical care depends on them. Every day, nurses, physicians, and other medical workers rely on laboratory professionals to perform tests on body fluids and tissue samples, interpret the results and help provide a complete picture of a patient’s health. Without this precise and valuable information, medicine would simply be guesswork.

This position is a generalist position working in multiple areas of the laboratory including chemistry, hematology and either microbiology or transfusion services.

Schedule:

• Temporary position until the end of December 2026
• Full-time | 80 hours every two weeks | Onsite
• Days | Start times between 6am-6:30am and ends times between 2:30pm-3pm
• No weekends or holidays!

Pay and Benefits:

• MLT starting pay begins at $28.04 per hour and increases with experience Pay range: $26.22 - $39.32 per hour
• MLS starting pay begins at $36.74 per hour and increases with experience Pay range: $33.15 - $49.73 per hour

• Associate degree from an accredited Clinical/Medical Laboratory Technician (CLT / MLT) program New Graduate’s degree must be validated within 2 months post-graduation.
• ASCP-BOC certified within 6 months with first exam completed within 3 months of hire, with certification verified within six weeks of exam.
• Recent experience of one or more years in large acute care facility preferred
• Transportation available for off campus laboratory related activities may be required.
• A valid Minnesota driver’s license, a driving record in good standing, and the minimum amount of insurance liability coverage may be required.
• MLS High School diploma or equivalent
• Bachelor’s degree with necessary science/math credits as required and verified by the ASCP Board of Certification (BOC). New graduate’s degree must be validated within 2 months post-graduation
• ASCP-BOC certified within 6 months with first exam completed within 3 months of hire, with certification verified within six weeks of exam
• Recent experience of two or more years in large acute care facility preferred
• Transportation available for off campus laboratory related activities may be required.
