Job summary

HealthTexas Medical Group of San Antonio is seeking a Medical Lab Technician to perform clinical lab tests and procedures of moderate complexity. The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, with an associate degree in medical technology preferred, and 3 years of lab experience.

Certification as an MLT is preferred. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associates degree preferred.
• 3 years experience as a laboratory technician preferred.
• Prior experience in Chemistry, Immunology and Hematology required.
• Documentation of training for testing performed prior to analysis of any specimens.
• Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills; ability to work without direct supervision.

Responsibilities

• Performs clinical analysis of blood and other body fluids to determine chemical components.
• Performs hematological testing.
• Performs other blood tests as ordered for patient care.
• Performs quality control checks of instruments and solutions; maintains QC and proficiency testing per CLIA.
• Performs routine lab procedures: accessioning, sample prep, analyzer maintenance and calibrations, control value interpretation, supply orders, bench work.
• Maintains patient confidentiality and complies with HIPAA regulations.
