Job summary

Huntsville Hospital is seeking a Medical Technician, MLT, CLT to perform laboratory procedures across multiple sections and maintain instruments to ensure QC and calibration data accuracy.

The role also supports teaching, inventory, procedure writing, and other duties as needed, with opportunities to contribute in Blood Bank, Hematology, Chemistry, Immunology, Urinalysis or Microbiology depending on area of expertise.

Qualifications

• Certification as MLT or CLT required or preferred.
• Experience with performing laboratory procedures and maintaining accuracy in QC/Calibrations.

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory procedures in multiple sections (Blood Bank, Hematology, Coagulation, Immunology, Chemistry, Urinalysis, Microbiology).
• Maintain instruments and perform Quality Control procedures and Calibrations.
• Review QC and Calibration data to ensure accuracy and improve lab performance.
• Aide in additional duties such as teaching, purchasing, inventory, and writing procedures as needed.

Job description

The Medical Technician, MLT, CLT is responsible for performing the laboratory procedures in at least three or more functional sections of the clinical laboratory in accordance with the policies and procedures that are in effect. The Key Areas of the laboratory are Blood Bank, Hematology, Coagulation, Immunology, Chemistry, Urinalysis, and Microbiology. The technician maintains the instruments in his/her area, performs Quality Control procedures, Calibrations, reviews Quality Control and Calibration data to ensure accuracy, and aids in improving the performance of the laboratory. The technologist may well be expected to perform other functions not specified. There are other duties such as teaching, purchasing, inventory, writing procedures, etc. that could be logical assignments for this position depending on the area in which the tech excels.
