Job summary

Phoebe Putney Health System is seeking a Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Technician for the Blood Bank. The position requires blood bank experience and either a 2-year/AS degree in Medical Technology or CLIA high-complexity qualifications. Certification through ASCP or equivalent is preferred.

Schedule includes midweek shifts with extended hours as indicated. The ideal candidate will perform testing under supervision, document results, and maintain equipment and QA processes while

Essential Functions

• TECHNOLOGY AND EQUIPMENT USE:
  1. Demonstrates technical skill in using equipment appropriate for the role.
  2. Understands equipment operation.
  3. Maintains equipment in working order.
  4. Troubleshoots equipment problems.
  5. Uses technology to increase productivity.

• DOCUMENTATION:
  1. Documents and submits required information and data in a timely fashion.
  2. Clearly and accurately documents designated processes, policies, products, service offerings, etc.
  3. Ensures that documentation is tailored to expected readers/users.

• MEDICAL TECHNICIAN JOB DUTIES:
  1. Under the supervision of a qualified Medical Technologist, provides assistance to the department in accurate and timely results of tests.
  2. Produce accurate and timely results according to established procedures.
  3. Correlates and interprets test data.
  4. Documents work as performed and recognizes abnormal and critical results.
  5. Monitors the quality assurance system to include quality control.
  6. Works independently with little or no supervision.
