Job summary

Rivers Health is seeking a full-time MLT/MT to obtain specimens, perform analyses, and report results according to department standards and hospital policies.

The ideal candidate has a Baccalaureate degree in medical technology or related field with eligibility for ASCP and WV licensure, plus experience or readiness to perform quality control, proficiency testing, and instrument maintenance within a collaborative lab team.

Qualifications

• Collect specimens from patients
• Perform tests per department policies
• Note and document results; retest out-of-range results
• Maintain supplies to meet test volume
• Follow safety and infection control policies
• Perform instrument preventive maintenance as directed
• Document and perform quality control
• Participate in proficiency testing
• Provide excellent customer service
• Foster teamwork and collaboration
• Adhere to hospital and department policies
• Other duties as assigned

Responsibilities

• Obtain specimens from patients per hospital policy
• Conduct all tests according to departmental procedures
• Observe and record test results; retest procedures outside acceptable range
• Ensure adequate supplies to handle test volume
• Follow safety/infection control policies
• Perform instrument maintenance as required
• Perform and document quality control
• Participate in proficiency testing
• Demonstrate excellent customer service
• Promote teamwork and collaboration
• Participate in quality improvement activities
