Job summary

Northside Hospital is seeking a qualified Medical Laboratory Technician to perform and interpret laboratory tests for neonate to geriatric patients. The role requires completing a formal twelve-month technician training program and the state MLT exam, plus strong attention to detail and good communication skills.

Color vision acuity is required and a color-acuity screening test must be passed. Preferred candidates may have additional science study and laboratory experience to support accuracy

Responsibilities

Performs and interprets laboratory tests in the Clinical Laboratory for the diagnosis and care of neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.

Qualifications

• REQUIRED:1. Successful completion of a formal twelve (12) month technician training program, and successful completion of a Technician (MLT) level, state recognized exam
• REQUIRED:2. Attention to detail, good physical dexterity, and good written and oral communication skills.
• REQUIRED:3. Ability to understand and use medical and scientific terminology.
• REQUIRED:4. Color vision acuity is required to safely perform the duties of this position
• REQUIRED:5. All applicants must submit to and pass a Color-Acuity screening Test
• PREFERRED:1. Completion of at least two (2) years of academic study in science, plus passing the technician (MLT) state recognized certification exam.
• PREFERRED:2. Computer keyboard and information system experience.
• PREFERRED:3. Patient specimen collection experience and patient relations training.
• PREFERRED:4. Two (2) years experience in a clinical laboratory performing technical duties.
