Job summary

Medical University of South Carolina is seeking a Laboratory Technician to support high quality clinical laboratory testing. You will prepare specimens, perform routine tests, run quality control, troubleshoot instruments, and communicate results to medical staff.

Educational requirements include a BS in Medical Technology or related field (or an AS degree with appropriate certification). Certification as MLS/BOC or equivalent is preferred, with a plan to obtain certification within the first

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology or related discipline is required.
• Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology is required.
• Certification as Medical Laboratory Scientist (ASCP BOC) or equivalent is preferred; if not certified, certification must be obtained within the first year.

Responsibilities

• Prepare specimens for testing and perform routine laboratory tests.
• Conduct quality control and instrument maintenance.
• Troubleshoot laboratory instruments and resolve data issues.
• Communicate technical information to medical staff and patients.
• Assist with training laboratory personnel and participate in continuing education.
