Job summary

MUHA's Summerville Medical Center is seeking a qualified Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our Laboratory Services team. The role entails performing routine and special laboratory testing, recognizing abnormal results, and resolving discrepancies to ensure accurate patient care.

The position requires a BS in Medical Technology or related field, at least three years of clinical experience, and ASCP BOC (or equivalent) certification.

• Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology or relevant medical or scientific discipline.
• At least three years of clinical experience.
• Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist by ASCP BOC or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory testing assigned to the department.
• Recognize unusual test results and resolve discrepancies.
• Establish work priorities and handle several procedures simultaneously, including troubleshooting instruments.
• Maintain SOPs and develop/training documents, validation/verification plans and test cases.
• Maintain communication with the Department and Laboratory Services personnel.
