Job summary

Aurora Health Care in Wisconsin is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician to join our clinical laboratory team. This role performs and evaluates a wide range of tests, calibrates and maintains instruments, and ensures quality control to deliver accurate results for patient care.

The position requires an Associate's Degree in Clinical Lab Technician or related field, with certification as MLT (ASCP BOC) or AMT to be obtained within one year.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in Clinical Lab Technician or related field required.
• No experience required.
• Licensure/certification: MLT (ASCP BOC) or AMT to be obtained within 1 year.

Responsibilities

• Performs, evaluates, and monitors laboratory tests within established protocols and adjusts workflow for timely completion.
• Evaluates results for clinical significance, validity, and appropriateness; reports results per policy.
• Performs calibration, maintenance, and quality control of instruments; takes corrective action as needed.
• Recognizes instrument/test failures and uses prescribed strategies or notifies supervisor; participates in proficiency testing.
• Collects specimens from newborn to adult patients; ensures proper labeling and suitability for testing.
• Provides technical assistance to Phlebotomists and support staff; supports QA and CAP requirements.
• Performs specialty testing in transfusion services, microbiology, chemistry, hematology, histology, coagulation, and flow cytometry.
