Job summary

Concord Hospital is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician to perform and interpret a range of diagnostic tests on blood and body fluids, under the supervision of the technical section supervisor. The role emphasizes accurate reporting, quality control, and maintaining lab equipment.

The position requires an Associate's degree or equivalent, with eligibility for MLT(ASCP) certification to be completed within one year of hire.

Qualifications

• Two years of formal training or education beyond high school (e.g., Associates Degree).
• Certification required to obtain: MLT(ASCP) or eligible; certification within 1 year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Performs, interprets, documents, and reports clinical laboratory diagnostic assays.
• Performs quality control procedures, maintains control records and problem log documentation.
• Checks, calibrates and maintains equipment; performs preventive maintenance at prescribed intervals.
• Assures adequate reagent supplies according to Laboratory and Section policies.
• Receives and stores supplies per established procedure.
• Maintains a clean and orderly laboratory environment.
• Performs technical and procedural problem solving as appropriate.
• Acts as technical resource to the Lab and hospital staff, providing instruction on test procedures.
• Assists Section Supervisor in evaluating new procedures, installing new instrumentation, and training on new equipment.
• Trains and orients Medical Technologists and Medical Laboratory Technicians, including students.
• Maintains technical competency in clinical areas based on shift and location.
• Demonstrates compliance with corporate, departmental and job-specific requirements.
