Job summary

Baptist Memorial Health Care is seeking a laboratory technician to perform and report laboratory procedures to ensure optimal patient outcomes. The role includes receiving and processing specimens, conducting quality control, and maintaining instruments. While no prior experience is necessary, candidates must have completed an accredited MLT program. Hospital experience is preferred. Temporary state licensure is required within six months of hire. This position may involve overtime and on-call duties.

Job description

Utilizes laboratory skills to perform and report results of clearly defined laboratory procedures ensuring optimal patient outcomes. Responsible for assigned shifts and subject to overtime and call-back as required. Performs other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Receives, identifies, organizes, and prioritizes specimens to ensure accurate and timely test processing.
• Performs and reports requested laboratory procedures.
• Performs quality control, proficiency testing, routine instrument maintenance, and inventory control.
• Evaluates positive patient identification to reduce analytical and post-analytical error and/or adverse patient outcomes.
• Supports lifelong learning.
• Completes assigned goals.

Experience

• No experience necessary, but must have completed accredited MLT program.
• Hospital experience preferred.

Special Skills

• Basic computer literacy.

Licensure

• Temporary state licensure and/or national registration or certification in concordance with current federal and/or state regulations. Full required licensure must be obtained within six months of hire date.
