Job summary

Intermountain Health is seeking a Medical Technologist/MLS to perform a variety of laboratory tests across Hematology, Chemistry, Microbiology, and Transfusion services. The role emphasizes quality control, data reporting, and collaboration with clinicians to support patient care.

The position requires a Bachelor's degree in clinical laboratory/medical technology or related field, MLS program completion with BOC eligibility, and ASCP certification.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in clinical laboratory/medical technology science or equivalent, from an accredited institution.
  • MLS program completion with eligibility to sit for the BOC; certification within 6 months of hire.
  • ASCP certification or equivalent, maintained to remain in the role.

Responsibilities

  • Performing Laboratory Tests: Conducting a variety of tests on blood, tissue, and other body fluids to help diagnose medical conditions.
  • Analyzing Test Results: Interpreting and analyzing test results to provide accurate and reliable data for patient diagnosis and treatment.
  • Operating and maintaining Laboratory equipment: Using and maintaining sophisticated laboratory equipment and instruments, ensuring they are properly calibrated and functioning correctly.
  • Quality control and Assurance: Implementing and monitoring quality control procedures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of test results.
  • Preparing samples: collecting, preparing, and handling biological samples following proper protocols to avoid contamination and degradation.
  • Recording and Reporting Data: Accurately recording test results and preparing detailed reports for healthcare providers.
  • Maintaining Laboratory Safety: Adhering to safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe and sterile laboratory environment.
  • Troubleshooting equipment issues: Identifying and resolving technical problems with laboratory equipment.
  • Collaborating with Healthcare Professionals: Working closely with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to discuss test results and assist in patient care decisions.
