Job summary

Alaska Regional Hospital in Anchorage is hiring a Medical Laboratory Scientist to support transfusion services and patient care. You will receive blood specimens, perform comprehensive lab tests, and analyze results using automated and manual methods.

The position requires a MT/MLS credential with 3–5 years’ experience and ASCP certification, plus BLS. You will operate analyzers and contribute to quality control and process improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, MLS, or related sciences.
• 3–5 years of laboratory experience.
• ASCP MT/MLS/MLT certification or equivalent.
• BLS/ACLS certification from American Heart Association or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Receive blood specimens and perform blood tests.
• Study morphology of blood components and use automated equipment.
• Perform antibody screening, identification, and cross-matching.
• Notify nursing units/physicians of critical lab values.
• Maintain and operate laboratory analyzers and instrumentation.
• Implement new testing methods and stay current with technology.
