Bon Secours invites applications for a Medical Lab Scientist (MLS) at the Richmond Health Source. The MLS performs routine tests on blood, tissues and specimens, delivering quality results to physicians while ensuring patient safety and anonymity.

The role requires a BS in a CLIA-approved program and MLS certification or eligibility. Externship is preferred, with duties spanning testing, quality control, equipment maintenance, and timely reporting in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Science, Biomedical Science, Biology or Biochemistry through a CLIA-approved program.
• MLS certification or eligible by a nationally recognized certification agency (preferably ASCP).
• Externship program completed (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Performs analytical tests on biological specimens, accurately and efficiently per procedures.
• Determines acceptability of specimens by visual inspection and recognizing abnormal results.
• Identifies factors affecting measurements and takes appropriate action per protocols.
• Performs quality control for all testing and ensures results meet established ranges.
• Maintains a safe work environment by equipment checks and proper cleaning; follows hospital policies.
