Job summary

St. Luke’s Health System in Mountain Home, Idaho seeks a Medical Laboratory Scientist (Non-certified) to perform routine tests in our clinical laboratory, following established procedures and policies.

The role develops working knowledge under supervision and contributes to accurate results for patient care. Responsibilities include specimen collection and labeling, instrument maintenance, and basic quality control.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine tests on specimens following laboratory procedures and policies to ensure quality and timeliness.
• Collects a variety of specimens with skill and sensitivity to patient needs.
• Ensures specimens are properly identified, labeled and stored.
• Performs instrument maintenance per section procedures.
• Under supervision perform routine Quality Control, Linearity, Calibration, Delta Checks on equipment.
• May mentor & training to others.
• Maintains inventory of supplies.
• Maintains a safe and clean working environment.
• Follows department policy and maintains records and documentation.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

The Medical Laboratory Scientist (Non-certified) is responsible for performing routine tests in clinical laboratories for use in treatment and diagnosis of diseases. Handles basic issues and problems by following established processes and department procedures. The Medical Laboratory Scientist (Non-Certified) is beginning to develop working knowledge of technical subject matter. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan work and accomplish tasks.

• Performs routine tests on specimens in an accurate, organized and prioritized manner following laboratory procedures and policies to ensure quality and time guidelines in accordance with all regulatory agency requirements.
• Collects a variety of specimens as required by specific section needs, with skill and sensitivity to needs of the patient.
• Ensures specimens are properly identified, collected, labeled and stored.
• Performs instrument maintenance according to section procedures.
• Under direct supervision perform routine Quality Control, Linearity, Calibration, Delta Checks, on laboratory equipment.
• May provide mentorship & training to others.
• Maintains inventory of supplies.
• Maintains a safe and clean working environment.
• Follows department policy maintaining all necessary records and documentation.
• Ensures input is accurate and complete.
