Job summary

St. Luke’s Boise Hospital is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist (Non-certified) to join our MLS team in a flex position. The role involves performing routine tests on clinical specimens under supervision to support diagnosis and treatment.

You will collect specimens, ensure proper labeling, perform instrument maintenance, and assist with quality control and documentation. No certification is required yet, and a Bachelor’s degree in a scientific field is requested.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine tests on specimens following laboratory procedures and policies.

• Performs instrument maintenance according to section procedures.
• Under direct supervision perform routine quality control and calibrations on equipment.
• May provide mentorship and training to others.
• Maintains inventory of supplies.
• Maintains a safe and clean working environment.
• Follows department policy and maintains necessary records and documentation.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

St. Luke's currently has an opening for a Medical Laboratory Scientist- Non-certified to join our Boise MLS team at Boise Hospital in a flex position! The Medical Laboratory Scientist (Non-certified) is responsible for performing routine tests in clinical laboratories for use in treatment and diagnosis of diseases. Handles basic issues and problems by following established processes and department procedures. The Medical Laboratory Scientist (Non-Certified) is beginning to develop working knowledge of technical subject matter. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan work and accomplish tasks.

What You Can Expect:

• Performs routine tests on specimens in an accurate, organized and prioritized manner following laboratory procedures and policies to ensure quality and time guidelines in accordance with all regulatory agency requirements.
• Collects a variety of specimens as required by specific section needs, with skill and sensitivity to needs of the patient.
• Ensures specimens are properly identified, collected, labeled and stored.
• Performs instrument maintenance according to section procedures.
• Under direct supervision perform routine Quality Control, Linearity, Calibration, Delta Checks, on laboratory equipment.
• May provide mentorship & training to others.
• Maintains inventory of supplies.
• Maintains a safe and clean working environment.
• Follows department policy maintaining all necessary records and documentation.
• Ensures input is accurate and complete.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
