Job summary

Piedmont Augusta Hospital is seeking a Medical Technologist to perform laboratory procedures and testing with competence, serving patients of all ages. You will analyze and report results in a timely and accurate manner, contributing to exceptional patient care.

Independence in daily lab work, adherence to certifications, and ongoing collaboration with the lab team are essential. A GED with qualifying training or a Bachelor's in CLS or life sciences is preferred, along with licensure

Qualifications

• GED with required college/technical coursework and clinical training to satisfy MT certification requirements.
• Bachelor's degree in CLS, biomedical science, medical technology or life/biological science preferred.

• Independently performs laboratory procedures and testing for patients of all ages, using trained competency to ensure accurate and timely results.

Responsibilities

Independently performs laboratory procedures for which the technologist has been trained and demonstrated competency. Independently performs laboratory testing on patients of all ages using professional knowledge of laboratory procedures, executing, interpreting and/or analyzing, in an accurate and timely manner.

Qualifications

Education

• H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) plus a sufficient number of college and/or technical school courses and clinical training to satisfy the requirements for testing and certification as a medical technologist by an approved certifying agency Required
• Bachelors Degree in clinical laboratory science, biomedical science, medical technology or in a life / biological science (biology, biochemistry, microbiology, etc.) Preferred

Work Experience

• No experience required Required
• 1 year of supervised clinical experience as a medical technologist in a clinical laboratory Preferred

Licenses and Certifications

• Certification as a medical technologist or medical laboratory scientist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), AMT (American Medical Technologists) or AAB (American Association of Bioanalysts) according to the qualifications through the State of Georgia Department of Community Health, Healthcare Facility, Clinical Laboratory regulations. • A person who recently moved into the state of Georgia or recently completed the academic and training/experience requirements may be temporarily classified as technologists or technicians for eighteen (18) months only to afford the person an opportunity to successfully complete an approved qualifying examination. within 1-1/2 Yrs Required
• AAB provisional certification not accepted
