Job summary

Fayette Chamber of Commerce is seeking a Medical Technologist to independently perform laboratory procedures and testing in Georgia. The role requires competency in laboratory procedures and the ability to interpret results for patients of all ages.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma with additional technical training, and a Bachelor’s degree in a related life science is preferred. Certification by ASCP/AMT/AAB as per Georgia regulations is required at hire.

Qualifications

• Education: H.S. Diploma or GED plus college/technical training to satisfy testing/certification as medical technologist.
• Bachelor’s Degree in clinical laboratory science, biomedical science, medical technology or life/biological science preferred.
• Licenses/certifications: ASCP/AMT/AAB qualifying certification per GA regulations; on hire required.

Qualifications

Education

• H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) plus a sufficient number of college and/or technical school courses and clinical training to satisfy the requirements for testing and certification as a medical technologist by an approved certifying agency Required
• Bachelor’s Degree in clinical laboratory science, biomedical science, medical technology or in a life / biological science (biology, biochemistry, microbiology, etc.) Preferred

Work Experience

• No experience required Required
• 1 year of supervised clinical experience as a medical technologist in a clinical laboratory Preferred

Licenses and Certifications

• Certification as a medical technologist or medical laboratory scientist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), AMT (American Medical Technologists) or AAB (American Association of Bioanalysts) according to the qualifications through the State of Georgia Department of Community Health, Healthcare Facility, Clinical Laboratory regulations. • A person who recently moved into the state of Georgia or recently completed the academic and training/experience requirements may be temporarily classified as technologists or technicians for eighteen (18) months only to afford the person an opportunity to successfully complete an approved qualifying examination. within 1-1/2 Yrs Required
