Job summary

Piedmont Atlanta Hospital, part of Piedmont Healthcare Inc., seeks a Laboratory Technologist to perform testing with competency and independence, following procedures and turning around results accurately for patients of all ages. Required are a HS diploma with college/clinical training and certification as a medical technologist (ASCP, AMT or AAB).

Experience is preferred but not required to start in a hospital lab in Atlanta, Georgia.

Qualifications

• Education requirements include a HS Diploma or GED with clinical training and certification as a medical technologist.
• Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in clinical laboratory science or related life sciences.
• Certification as MT/MLS by ASCP, AMT or AAB as per Georgia regulations.

Responsibilities

• Independently performs laboratory procedures and testing with competency.
• Executes, interprets and analyzes results accurately and timely for all ages.

Qualifications

Education

• H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) plus a sufficient number of college and/or technical school courses and clinical training to satisfy the requirements for testing and certification as a medical technologist by an approved certifying agency Required
• Bachelor’s Degree in clinical laboratory science, biomedical science, medical technology or in a life / biological science (biology, biochemistry, microbiology, etc.) Preferred

Work Experience

• No experience required Required
• 1 year of supervised clinical experience as a medical technologist in a clinical laboratory Preferred

Licenses and Certifications

• Certification as a medical technologist or medical laboratory scientist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), AMT (American Medical Technologists) or AAB (American Association of Bioanalysts) according to the qualifications through the State of Georgia Department of Community Health, Healthcare Facility, Clinical Laboratory regulations. • A person who recently moved into the state of Georgia or recently completed the academic and training/experience requirements may be temporarily classified as technologists or technicians for eighteen (18) months only to afford the person an opportunity to successfully complete an approved qualifying examination. within 1-1/2 Yrs Required
• AAB provisional certification not accepted
