• AdventHealth Apopka is a seven-story, 120-bed hospital offering an extensive range of services including advanced surgical suites and a catheterization lab.
• The hospital features a 30,000-square-foot emergency department with pediatric-friendly beds, imaging services, a full-service cafeteria, chapel, gift shop, and on-site fire station.
• Opened in December 2017, replacing the 50-bed hospital operated in downtown Apopka for over four decades.

The role you’ll contribute:

The Medical Laboratory Scientist II performs various laboratory procedures in assigned areas as licensed/certified. Responsibilities include analytical testing of blood and human biological specimens, requiring a moderate to high level of knowledge and expertise. Work may include pre- and post-analytical processes, and on-call hours may be required. Follows laboratory policies, maintains quality control, and participates in customer service and respectful relationships.

• Performs pre-analytical activities such as equipment maintenance, inventory control, specimen collection, and cleaning.
• Conducts tests and analytical procedures accurately and efficiently, adhering to standards and regulations. Participates in proficiency testing.
• Performs post-analytical activities, reports results, and provides support for all age groups.
• Provides orientation and training to new staff and students, acting as a preceptor when needed, and documents training activities.

Qualifications

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:

• Bachelor's degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory sciences, or related field.
• In licensure states, valid Laboratory Licensure in appropriate specialties.
• In non-licensure states, national certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (e.g., ASCP, AAB, or AMT).
