Job description

Summary

Performs laboratory testing and procedures in any/all areas of the laboratory and reports timely accurate test results.

Shift

North Clinical Laboratory

Night shift -- 8:45 p.m. - 6:45 a.m.

Rotating weekends and holidays required.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Reports accurate results, evaluating results for clinical significance and validity, and for recognition of atypical/abnormal results requiring additional follow up.
  • Ensures quality control is acceptable and instrumentation is functioning and maintained within defined tolerance limits and documentation is completed.
  • Completes all notifications of critical test results within required timeframes to appropriate caregivers.
  • Consciously works to identify and minimize errors and takes responsibility for correcting and documenting errors in a timely manner.
  • Performs basic troubleshooting for equipment according to standard operating procedures and escalates appropriately for more complex system failures.
  • Supports new employees, students and other healthcare professionals according to standard operating procedures, when requested.
  • Performs assigned laboratory functions according to standard operating procedures and guidelines established by regulatory agencies, including participation in proficiency testing and familiarization with regulations and quality indicators.
Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor of Science
  • Area of Study
    • in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory or medical technology from an accredited institution.

    • Minimum Experience. Required: None.

  • Licenses & Certifications
    • Medical Technologist: Medical Technologist/Scientist Certification ASCP or equivalent required within 6 months of eligibility
    • Medical Laboratory Scientist: Medical Technologist/Scientist Certification ASCP or equivalent required within 6 months of eligibility
  • Additional Requirements
    • License/Certification required within six (6) months of hire. Requires one (1) of the following: MT or MLS.
  • Competency

Preferred Qualifications
  • 1 year of experience
  • Generalist laboratory experience in hematology and/or chemistry.
Salary Information

Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.

Hourly Range: $31.25 to $46.87
