Job description

**Medical Laboratory Scientist**

**Work location:** Texas Health Dallas, 8200 Walnut Hill Lane, Dallas, Texas 75231

**Work hours:** Full-time - 40 hours/week; 1:00pm-9:00pm plus weekends as needed

**Here’s What You Need**

  • Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology, Applied Technology, Clinical Lab Science or Chemical, Physical or Biological Science preferred
  • Internship in an approved Medical Technology training program required
  • One year hospital experience preferred
  • Licensed MT(ASCP) - Medical Technologist within 90 Days required or MLS(ASCP)
  • Medical Lab Scientist within 90 Days required or other AMT, AAB, HHS, NCA, HEW, CLS- CA, FL, NY state license, Philippine Board of Technical Technology upon hire required or M(ASCP) - Microbiology if working in Microbiology upon hire required or BB (ASCP) - Blood Banking if working in Blood Bank upon hire required

**What You Will Do**

  1. Evaluate and solve problems related to collection and/or processing of specimens, maintaining specimen integrity throughout the testing process
  2. Facilitate workflow process
  3. Check outstanding tests list in a timely manner
  4. Troubleshoot and follow through on outstanding tests which appear to have not been collected/received when expected
  5. Know and use computer downtime procedures as needed when computer is not available
  6. Help other hospital and laboratory coworkers to provide timely patient care
