Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Mountainside Medical Center in Montclair, NJ is seeking an evening-shift, part-time Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA) to support specimen collection, receiving, processing and testing in the Pathology unit.

You will assist laboratory personnel, contribute to quality initiatives, and must have a High School diploma; preferred phlebotomy certification on hire and MLA certification within 2 years; strong customer service and basic computer skills are essential.

Responsibilities

The Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA) functions as a laboratory professional who assists other laboratory personnel in specimen collection, specimen receiving, specimen processing, laboratory testing, process improvement and quality initiatives.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

• High School or equivalent.
• Basic computer skills and strong customer service skills.

Preferred Job Requirements:

• Certification from a nationally recognized agency as a phlebotomist upon hire.
• Certification from a nationally recognized agency as a medical lab assistant within 2 years of the hire date.
• Experience working in the clinical setting.

Rate of pay is determined based on experience and education, and may include other pay components such as differentials and call pay based on role.
