Ardent Health Services is seeking a Night Shift, full-time Medical Lab Scientist (MLS) in Montclair, NJ. The MLS will perform clinical laboratory testing essential for patient care, maintain quality control, and participate in proficiency testing.

The role requires a Baccalaureate Degree in Medical Technology or clinical laboratory science and ASCP certification or equivalent, with ongoing certification maintenance. Experience with laboratory techniques and principles is expected.

Qualifications

• ASCP or equivalent certification required and must be maintained without lapse.
• Certification in a specific area (M(ASCP), H(ASCP), C(ASCP)) preferred.
• Knowledge of clinical laboratory techniques and principles essential.
• Maintains certification if active and in good standing.

Responsibilities

• The Medical Lab Scientist (MLS ) functions as a professional who assumes responsibility and accountability for the performance of clinical laboratory testing that pertains to patient care and diagnosis.
• This position performs routine and special laboratory procedures, quality control, preventative maintenance, minor equipment repairs, inventory control, and statistical compilation.
• Will additionally participate in quality assurance, performance improvement, laboratory education, new employee training, and proficiency testing when assigned.

Qualifications

Job Requirements

• Baccalaureate Degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a chemical, physical, or biological science.

• ASCP or equivalent.

  • Certification within a specific area, i.e., M(ASCP), H(ASCP), C(ASCP), qualifies.

  • Certification must be maintained without lapse during employment.

• If certification lapses, the job will be downgraded to Medical Laboratory Scientist (non-certified) until certification is reinstated.

• Current knowledge of clinical laboratory techniques and principles.

Rate of pay is determined based on experience and education, and may include other pay components such as differentials and call pay based on role.
