Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Mountainside Medical Center in Montclair, NJ is seeking a day-shift, part-time Laboratory Phlebotomist to join our team. You will perform venipuncture and specimen collections following proper safety protocols.

Qualifications include a high school diploma, completion of an accredited phlebotomy/medical assistant program with clinicals or phlebotomy experience, and national certification.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an accredited phlebotomy/medical assistant program with clinicals or previous phlebotomy experience.
• Certification from a nationally recognized agency (CPT/NHA, PBT/ASCP, RPT/AMT, NCPT/NCCT, CPT/ACA).
• Experience in a clinical setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture and capillary draws.
• Collect urine samples and provide specimen culture collection instructions.

The Phlebotomist functions as a laboratory professional who performs specimen collection techniques or specimen collection instructions that include: venipuncture, capillary draws, urine collection instructions, and specimen culture collection instruction.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an accredited phlebotomy/medical assistant program with clinicals or previous phlebotomy experience.
• Certification from a nationally recognized agency. Accepted agencies and certifications include:
  • National Heathcareer Association – Certified Phlebotomy Technician: CPT (NHA)
  • American Society for Clinical Pathology – Phlebotomy Technician: PBT (ASCP)
  • American Medical Technologists – Registered Phlebotomy Technician: RPT (AMT)
  • National Center for Competency Testing – National Certified Phlebotomy Technician: NCPT (NCCT)
  • American Certification Agency – Certified Phlebotomy Technician: CPT (ACA)

Preferred Job Requirements:

• Experience working in the clinical setting.

Rate of pay is determined based on experience and education and may include other pay components such as differentials and call pay based on role.
