Medical Intermediate Critical Care Registered Nurse - Sign on Bonus Eligible

The RN Clinical Nurse Critical Care is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed care givers who ensure that patients, families, and significant others receive individualized high-quality, safe care. They practice in a clinical environment managed by Nurse Managers and leaders, supported through the Wellstar Shared Governance Model. The practice framework is guided by the Wellstar Professional Practice Model, evidence-based practice, and research, with RN competencies derived from these models and aligned with Wellstar Values.

All RN Clinical Nurses Critical Care are licensed, knowledgeable, and uphold the nursing practice outlined by the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act, implementing the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards from the American Nurses Association. As part of the patient services team, they uphold patient advocacy, adhere to system policies and procedures, and support service excellence goals.

Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions

Exemplary Practice and Outcomes

• Perform the Nursing Process (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, evaluation) using evidence-based practice, analytical and critical thinking, ensuring individualized care and effective partnerships to achieve optimal outcomes.
• Provide relationship-based, patient-centered care tailored to population-specific characteristics (age, gender, disease, etc.), reflecting cultural diversity.
• Partner with patients and significant others through methods like bedside shift reports, interdisciplinary rounds, timely patient teaching, and keeping patients' goals central to care planning.
• Practice according to current clinical standards.

Teamwork and Collaboration

• Coordinate safe, quality patient care documentation and delivery, promoting respectful and inclusive interdisciplinary communication and a positive clinical environment.
• Demonstrate teamwork by practicing responsibly and supporting healthcare team recruitment and retention.
• Participate in and support performance improvement initiatives, research, and shared governance activities to promote safe, quality care.

Professional Development and Initiative

• Complete all required professional competency assessments, mandatory education, and population-specific training.
• Serve as preceptor or mentor to foster a qualified nursing workforce and model professional practice.

Evidence-Based Practice and Research

• Promote evidence-based practice, research, and performance improvement, participating in activities like value analysis for patient care products.
• Uphold organizational policies, clinical competencies, legal, regulatory, and accreditation standards, including TJC Patient Safety Goals and Wellstar safety absolutes.
• Participate in data collection, formulate clinical questions, consult experts, and utilize evidence to improve practice.

Resources and Support

• Plan proactively for patient care across the continuum during direct care activities.
• Contribute to protocol and procedure development to improve outcomes like readmission rates and adverse events.
• Support efficient use of resources.

Performs other duties as assigned and complies with all WellStar policies, standards, and codes of conduct.

Minimum Education

Diploma from an accredited nursing program or a Bachelor's Degree (BSN) preferred.

Minimum Licenses and Certifications

• Registered Nurse (Single State) or RN - Multi-state Compact
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Instructor certification
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Instructor or Provisional ACLS

Experience

Less than 1 year of clinical nursing experience required; prior patient care experience preferred.
