Overview

Position Overview: An established nonprofit medical referral organization is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and medically literate Medical Information & Data Structuring Specialist to support the organization’s physician referral and medical research initiatives.

The Medical Information & Data Structuring Specialist will work closely with leadership to research, classify, standardize, and maintain critical medical information used to support the physician database and referral operations. This position plays an important role in strengthening the organization’s ability to connect patients and families with the most appropriate specialists and medical resources.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with complex information, conducting research, and transforming large amounts of medical data into structured, searchable, and reliable resources.

Responsibilities
  • Research medical conditions, specialties, subspecialties, procedures, treatments, and physician expertise
  • Organize, classify, and structure complex medical information within internal databases and knowledge systems
  • Review, validate, and maintain data accuracy, consistency, and completeness
  • Assist with terminology standardization and management of related medical concepts
  • Apply metadata, tagging, and classification frameworks to improve data organization and searchability
  • Transform unstructured information into clean, usable, and scalable datasets
  • Conduct internet-based research using reliable and authoritative medical sources
  • Verify information and identify inconsistencies, gaps, or outdated content
  • Utilize AI tools responsibly to support research and workflow efficiency while ensuring proper human review and source validation
  • Collaborate with leadership on strategic medical information and database enhancement projects
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required; healthcare, science, or research-related fields preferred
  • Strong medical literacy with the ability to understand and interpret medical terminology and literature

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of medical specialties, diseases, procedures, treatments, and terminology relationships
  • Experience with Salesforce, CRM platforms, structured databases, or controlled vocabulary
  • Exposure to metadata tagging, classification systems, taxonomies, or knowledge-management frameworks
  • Clinical background, advanced health science education, or healthcare research experience
  • Background in public health, biology, neuroscience, pre-med studies, healthcare data operations, or related disciplines
Compensation & Benefits
  • $80,000-$95,000 based on experience
  • Full-time preferred (qualified candidates seeking 25+ hours per week will be considered)
