Job summary

Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center is seeking a Medical Imaging Physicist to ensure safe, compliant use of imaging equipment across Radiology, with responsibilities in QA, calibration, equipment evaluation, and image quality assurance.

The role collaborates with physicists, technologists, radiologists, and informatics staff, supporting regulatory and accreditation activities and staff education.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Medical Physics, Physics, Engineering or related discipline.
  • License by ABR or DPH RAD required.
  • 1–3 years related work experience in Medical Physics.
  • Completed a fellowship in Medical Physics or at least two years of employment as a medical physicist.
  • Advanced technical computer skills for radiological imaging systems (DICOM, PACS, RIS/HIS, IHE).
  • Advanced technical computer skills for supporting relevant systems.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts annual and periodic inspection, calibration, and testing of medical imaging equipment per regulatory specs.
  • Develops shielding designs for facilities and performs dosimetry calculations.
  • Participates in Radiology QA programs to optimize image quality and reduce dose.
  • Supports regulatory bodies during inspections and accreditation processes.
  • Supports accreditation programs administered by The Joint Commission and the American College of Radiology.
