Job summary

Palmetto Primary Care seeks a professional Medical Front Desk Representative in Charleston to deliver exceptional patient service in a clinical outpatient setting. You will greet patients, verify demographics and insurance, collect payments, and support scheduling and check-out processes with attention to HIPAA compliance.

You will manage a multi-line phone system, assist with document scanning into the EHR, and coordinate with clinical staff to communicate delays and arrivals while maintaining

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or medical office certification preferred.
• 1–2 years of experience in medical office or customer service preferred.
• Experience with EHR/practice management systems preferred.
• Working knowledge of medical terminology.
• HIPAA privacy and confidentiality regulations knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Greet and check in patients courteously and professionally.
• Verify and update patient demographic and insurance information.
• Collect co-pays, deductibles, and outstanding balances.
• Schedule, reschedule, and confirm appointments.
• Answer multi-line phone system and route calls.
• Scan and upload patient documents into the EHR.
• Check patients out and provide visit summaries.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
• Coordinate with clinical staff on arrivals and delays.
• Manage waiting room and communicate delays.
• Process mail and faxes.
• Reconcile daily co-pay/cash collections.
