Job summary

University of South Alabama’s Medical Education Simulation Center seeks a Medical Education Standardized Patient Educator to contribute to SP recruitment, training, and simulation activities on the Mobile campus.

The role requires a Master’s degree in a related field and at least one year of related experience, plus the ability to coordinate SPs, develop training materials, and support QA/QI efforts within the simulation center.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in a related field from an accredited institution and one year of related professional experience; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology and simulation terminology and best practices.
• Assists Assistant Director with recruitment and screening of SPs, SP orientations, and delivery of yearly SP performance feedback.
• Coordinates with Assistant Director to select SPs for simulation activities under supervision.
• Develops training materials for SP training and implements SP trainings.
• Implements SP-based simulations and ensures adherence to best practices and policies.
• Assists with integration of education best practices into simulation and serves as an advocate for use of simulation in healthcare education.
