FlyteHealth exists to help individuals living with obesity pursue healthier lives through chronic condition support and pharmacotherapy virtually via video conferencing and an engaging smartphone app. We leverage an in-house nationwide clinical care team including physicians, nurse practitioners, registered dietitians, and care navigators. We also partner with hospital systems, payers, and PBMs to expand their ability to reach more patients and provide broader obesity care support.
The Role:
We are looking for a multi-state licensed physician to join our growing team of medical professionals to provide care for our patients supported by FlyteHealth’s Evolve platform.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provision of clinical care to patients with obesity and associated medical conditions.
- Consistently provide evidence-based, customized clinical care and patient experience
- Review FlyteHealth patient questionnaire/intake, initial lab results, diagnostic testing to provide initial patient interaction including counseling on the scientific principles and physiology of weight management
- Perform face-to-face video patient assessments (initial visits and follow up visits) to set the clinical care plans
- Prescribe appropriate anti-obesity therapies including pharmacotherapy and educate patients on mechanisms of action, and common side effects
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary medical team of RNs, NPs, and RDs working together to evaluate, treat and monitor patients for weight management
- Other tasks include patient messaging/callbacks, ordering/reviewing labs, imaging and other diagnostic testing, coordinating care with outside providers, placing referrals to sub-specialists, reviewing progress in scheduled follow ups
- Utilize and support the FlyteHealth platform, maintained by the FlyteHealth team and dedicated to supporting patients in achieving their weight loss and health goals
- Assist with onboarding and training of incoming healthcare providers in the practice of weight management; Assist with practice-based endeavors including creating/modifying clinical workflows and expansion to other sites
- Additional role responsibilities may be required, as needed and applicable
- Hours needed: 2:00PM - 6:00pm PST (M-F) (Flexible on start time) AND/OR 9:00am PST - 6:00pm PST Saturday and Sunday.
About You:
- An extremely high degree of compassion, motivation, and commitment related to weight management, nutrition and care for patients with obesity or overweight.
- Passionate about health and assisting people in changing their lives and health outcomes.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Strong general proficiency in computer programs and technologies such as Microsoft Office, Gmail, videoconferencing applications, VoIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol), text, and online presentation software. Familiarity with cloud based EHR programs.
- Possess the ability to quickly learn and use our proprietary professional and client web-based portal to support and document participant sessions with adherence to policies and procedures.
- Awareness of trends and evidence regarding overweight & obesity.
- Open and honest receptivity to cultural diversity.
- Willing to provide feedback to our team regarding our programs in support of continuous quality improvement.
- Understanding of service quality and how it is measured.
Required/Preferred Qualifications:
- Board Certified or Board Eligible M.D. or D.O. – in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine (with or without sub-specialization).
- Fellowship-trained in Obesity Medicine (Preferred) or American Board of Obesity Medicine (ABOM) certified/eligible are especially encouraged to apply
- MD licensure in the state where employed or a compact party state MD license
- DEA in the state(s) where employed or compact party state
- Proficiency with medical instruments and equipment required to perform your work
- Knowledge of computer-based data management programs and information systems, as well as medical records and EMR/EHR technology
- Clear understanding of all pertinent federal and state regulations, including HIPAA and OSHA
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and warm/friendly virtual “bedside” manner
- Knowledge and interest in Weight Management/Obesity Medicine, obesity-related comorbidities, and disease prevention
- Should be tech-savvy, proactive, organized, detail-oriented, and have telemedicine experience
- Clean background and medical malpractice history
- 5+ State licenses or a lesser combination that includes one or more of these states: GA, CT, NY, PA, CA, NJ, DE, FL, TX, WV, VT, RI - GA is strongly preferred and/or a Compact State is preferred but not required.
