Job summary

SEARHC seeks a Medical Director for Specialty to provide direct clinical care (0.5 FTE) and supervise specialty services for the Southeast Alaska region. The role partners with the CMO to promote high-quality care, efficient workflows, fiscal responsibility, and strong patient experience.

Responsibilities include clinical supervision, staff coaching, and leading continuous quality improvement across specialty services, with emphasis on access for remote communities.

Qualifications

• Current unrestricted license to practice medicine in Alaska.
• DEA Registration.
• Ongoing board certification in primary care or chosen specialty.
• Ongoing current certification for clinical practice (BLS, PALS, ACLS as required).

Responsibilities

• Oversee high-quality specialty clinical care in outpatient settings.
• Provide consultation and supervision of non-physician medical staff.
• Document patient services per medical staff rules and regulations.
• Participate in ongoing medical education to maintain licensure and board certification.
• Lead quality measures and accreditation readiness (DNV, JCAHO, HRSA).
• Foster collaboration across specialty and primary care teams to improve access and efficiency.
• Support recruitment, engagement, and performance review of medical staff.
• Travel occasionally to SEARHC communities and leadership forums.
