Job summary

Frontier Direct Care is seeking a Medical Director (MD/DO) to lead clinical teams, provide oversight, and advance a high-quality care model across our Texas clinics.

You will collaborate with the CMO and leadership to shape workflows, mentor providers, hire clinical staff, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive patient-first outcomes for Frontier members.

Qualifications

• MD or DO from an accredited institution
• Active and unrestricted Texas medical license
• Board certification in Family Medicine
• 3–5 years of leadership in family medicine/primary care
• Active DEA registration
• Demonstrated leadership and mentoring experience
• Working knowledge of healthcare compliance and regulatory requirements
• Passion for relationship-based care and leading by example

Responsibilities

• Lead clinical teams delivering comprehensive, unrushed care to Frontier members
• Provide clinical oversight, coaching, and training to advanced practice providers and nurse managers
• Manage a split patient panel with a Lead PCP to ensure continuity and quality
• Hire and retain providers aligned with our values
• Collaborate with the Chief Medical Officer to refine workflows and build a sustainable care model
• Oversee daily clinic operations including budget, inventory, and staffing
• Lead weekly team meetings to foster open dialogue and problem-solving
• Ensure care delivery complies with state/federal regulations and internal standards
• Provide quarterly feedback to teams and drive quality improvements

What You’ll Do

Requirements

What You Bring

• MD or DO from an accredited institution
• Active and unrestricted medical license to practice in Texas
• Board certification in Family Medicine
• 3-5 years of experience in a family practice or primary care setting
• Active DEA registration
• Demonstrated leadership experience—whether mentoring a small team or managing a clinic
• A working knowledge of healthcare compliance, patient safety, and regulatory requirements
• A genuine passion for relationship-based care and a desire to lead by example
