Job summary

CoreCivic is seeking a physician to provide comprehensive medical care and clinical leadership in an institutional setting. The role includes direct patient care, medical direction, and oversight of the medical program in collaboration with Health Services leadership.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited medical school.
• Must be licensed to practice medicine in the state of employment.
• A valid driver’s license is required.
• Minimum age 18 years.

Responsibilities

• Provide a range of professional medical services to inmates, including exams, diagnosis, treatment, and follow‑up care.
• Provide leadership for the medical program in collaboration with the Health Services Supervisor.
• Monitor and review standards of care delivered to inmates/residents.
• Interview inmates/residents and make admissions decisions.
• Conduct clinical rounds and participate in treatment team meetings to devise health plans.
• Perform surgeries as needed and oversee medical procedures.
• Hold clinics for nursing specialists, prescribe and establish protocols.
• Maintain confidentiality of medical records and ensure proper documentation.
• Coordinate with facility staff, contract providers, and outside agencies to ensure quality care.
• Support accreditation efforts (NCCHC/ACA/JCAHO) and ensure continuity of medical services.
