Job summary

Ascendis Pharma is seeking a Medical Director to lead late-phase clinical trials in endocrinology from the United States. You will design, monitor, and interpret data, and guide cross-functional teams in regulatory submissions and scientific communications.

The role reports to the VP, Clinical Science and requires MD degree, board certification in endocrinology, and 5+ years of industry experience. Travel up to 20% is expected.

Qualifications

• MD degree and board certification in endocrinology strongly preferred.
• ACGME-accredited residency and fellowship strongly preferred.
• Physician licensure in at least one state preferred.
• 5+ years of industry experience; associate Medical Director possible for less experience.
• At least 3 years’ experience with clinical trial design and execution.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving and leadership abilities.
• Willingness to travel up to 20% domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to formulation and implementation of the Clinical Development Plan
• Promote relevance and rigor of the development program using medical expertise
• For clinical trials: design, oversee, and support site and subject retention
• Serve as a Medical Monitor for clinical trials and track safety/efficacy data
• Provide leadership to teams of medical monitors and study teams
• Ensure completion of trial-related documents and regulatory submissions
• Collaborate with cross-functional colleagues to optimize product development
• Contribute to corporate strategic and organizational initiatives
• Cultivate relationships with investigative sites and key opinion leaders
• Travel up to 20% for scientific meetings
